Contrast
This is a result of a high-contrast photo because the opposite colour is one that compliments the other. Flowers are commonly used for contrast photos. It was winter during this time and was hard to find things that would make a good contrast photo. I took a red rose I got from Valentine's day and thought that it would make a good contrast photo on a country road. The flower brings life into the photo. I am very pleased with the way this picture turned out.
Rhythm
Rhythm is a group of objects that create a pattern, which becomes a point of interest as a whole. I had to find theme or forms that are repeating to form a pattern or rhythm to become the main object as a whole. This technique was hard to do. I didn't want to do something simple like trees or grass. I wanted to find something a little bit unique. I went down by the canal and took this picture of seagulls. I though the group of seagulls made a great pattern! Also the water in the background creates a rhythm as well.
Leading Lines
Leading lines can create depth and perspective to an image. They can convey distance and provide a relationship between the foreground and background of the image. They draw the eyes into a picture. I thought that the railway of the train tracks was a good example of leading lines. This is one of my favorite pictures I took.
Rule of Thirds
The rule of thirds is one of the main “rules” in art and photography. The human eye naturally gravitates to intersection points that occur when an image is split into thirds. In the rule of thirds, photos are divided into thirds with two imaginary lines vertically and horizontally making three columns, three rows and nine sections in the image. This photography technique was the easiest one to get and is used in a lot of my other photos taken in and outside of school. The old barn in this picture is what really draws the viewer's eye.
Framing
Framing is using other objects in your photograph to frame the main subject. Framing brings more depth to the picture and a better focus on what the main subject is. I found it really hard to find items to frame my main subject because I was not very familiar with the technique. In this picture, I used trees to frame my main subject. I thought it turned out quite nice. I have been getting used to this technique. Recently, when I've been able to find objects that could frame the main subject.
